Justin’s Opportunities

Some say that during the recent London riots in the summer of 2011, many of those looting and rioting were being opportunistic, seizing the chance created by others to steal a pair of new trainers. In this film, Justin, a young man living in a hostel and on job seekers allowance, faces a moral dilemma. Should he or shouldn’t he be opportunistic? You decide.

This film was created during Word Film Collective’s youth training programme in East London in response to the riots. A group of young people learned the filmmaking process while considering what caused the 2011 summer violence. This film is a way of discovering whether anyone can be opportunistic and what the motivations are behind it.
